Add Globally Trusted Senders

This article applies to recent versions of SmarterMail. View articles for SmarterMail 15.x and earlier.

The global Trusted Senders feature allows System Administrators to specify email addresses or domains that are exempt from spam filtering for the entire mail server. This functionality can prevent mail from friends, business associates and mailing lists from being blocked as spam.

NOTE: Even if a user or domain is on the trusted senders list, SmarterMail will always run SPF and DKIM checks to guarantee the return path of an email. If the spam weight threshold is met due to these spam checks, the message will be subject to the user's spam filtering rules.

To add a trusted sender to the global trusted senders list, follow these steps:

  1. Log into SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Settings icon.
  3. Click Antispam from the menu on the left.
  4. On the Trusted Senders card, click the edit (pencil) icon next to either Trusted Domain or Trusted Email Addresses. A list of your current trusted senders will display in the content pane.
  5. Add the trusted sender domain (e.g., or address (e.g., to the list (one per line) and click OK to save.

The address or domain is now listed as a trusted sender for all domains on the mail server.
