What do you need to get started?
First off, if you're using your own, on-prem version of SmarterTrack, you'll need to be upgraded to at least our most recent Build (Build 8075) and have HTTPS enabled for your site. This is what we previously called a "minor" Build of SmarterTrack that primarily exposes the API calls that are necessary to make SmarterTrack Mobile work. There are few, if any, other changes to be aware of.
If you're using the Hosted SmarterTrack service, those sites will be upgraded to that Build the evening of the 9th. After that upgrade, you'll be good to go.
Now, how do I get started?
As this is a mobile app, it can be tested on both iOS and Android. However, the process for testing mobile apps on iOS and Android is a bit different. Below is a breakdown of what is necessary for you to participate, based on the device you're using.
- Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject of “Android Beta Access” or "iOS Beta Access", provide your Google address or Apple ID, and we’ll take care of the rest. You will receive an email that gives you the instructions needed to download and install SmarterTrack Mobile for testing.
iOS users will need to use TestFlight to access the Beta. TestFlight is Apple’s platform that allows developers to beta test versions of their apps. If you’re unfamiliar with TestFlight, here’s Apple’s documentation for you to review: TestFlight - Apple
Android users simply need to send us the Google address they use with their phones, and we will send you a link that will allow you to download the app from the Google Play Store. Google does not require a “test app” to be installed on your device.
Once it's installed
Once you’ve installed SmarterTrack Mobile, to log in you simply need to use the same information you use when logging in to your existing SmarterTrack installation in a web browser:
- URL: The URL to your SmarterTrack installation, with or without the HTTP/HTTPS part. For example, portal.smartertrack.com OR https://portal.smartertools.com.
- Username: The login you use for SmarterTrack. (E.g., email@example.com)
- Password: Your SmarterTrack password.
Once you’ve logged in you can start using SmarterTrack Mobile.
