SmarterTools Rate Increase May 2021

Hi,

Looks like SmarterTools increased their pricing over the weekend, do they notify anyone?

Did anyone receive a heads-up, besides maybe their partners, I would imagine they would
have to at least give them a notice, the ones that resell their products.

I saw a post from Nathan Y on 4/20/2021 about a possible 15% rate increase on May 1st,
but that post disappeared shortly after.

I understand rates have to go up, but I do not understand how the rate increased for Cyren,
Message Sniffer, and Microsoft all at once.  Did they all happen to call up SmarterTools and
increase their rate all at the same time?

Thank You,
-dave

Yes, we updated pricing for only the 2nd time in 15 years.  All products and add-ons were affected.

Hosted SmarterTrack was not changed.

Partners were notified.

We update customers who are in recurring services when/if we do price changes which is clearly not often.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for taking the time and replying.  I know price increases are rare with SmarterTools and I appreciate that.  I know it is not something that you want to have a big announcement about.  When you say you notify customers who have recurring services, does that include the people that are active with maintenance, or is it just the ones that are paying extra for Cyren, Message Sniffer, and/or IMAP/EWS/EAS?

Thank You,
-dave

A heads up would have been nice, the 25% increase on activesync now means I'm selling at a loss.

We need time to convey pricing changes to our clients....

Also, why has activesync gone up in price anyway, Microsoft have suddenly started charging more?

Our cost of doing business increases every year.  Having increased our prices only twice in 15 years means we are often selling and/or providing services at a loss to avoid passing that cost onto our customers.
