SmarterMail Create Calendar Event Email Notification Button does Nothing
Problem reported by Ron Raley - 3/10/2021 at 11:52 AM
Resolved
We are running the latest version of SmarterMail.  When I create a calendar event in webmail and click "Email Notification", I just can't seem to get it to work for any clients.

Does this function work for YOU?

Thank you,
Ron

Ron, this is a known issue. I will update this thread when the fix is available.

Well I did a test and according to the documentation and if I understand correctly we should input an e-mail address somewhere but the field doesn't seems to exists.

Also I've set the reminder 1 hour before the event occurs but had no notification neither for the event creator nor the attendees.

Also one of the attendee is external to the domain (a mail account on another server which is checked with IMAP in emClent). I've received the event creation notification on the externeal account and accepted it.
But the status of the attendee remains unknown in the event.
However the inbox of the event creator received the invitation acceptance from the external account, but displays it as a "You've been invited" not as an Accepted invitation...

Not sure here if it's a emClient or SM issue.

Ron you had some success with the reminders working and invitations acceptance from external attendees ? (in case you tested it)

Kind regards.

The documentation needs to be updated. The email notification will ONLY go to the owner of the appointment that is why there is no email address field.  This was removed during the BETA and included in the first release Build 6911 (Dec 3, 2018):

Changed: Removed the email notification email address field; only the creator/organizer of the appointment will receive the email notification; attendees are not sent an email.

Hi!

On this same subject, up to Smartermail V15 the calendar notification was a pop-up window.

If the webmail user was not at his/her desk at the time of the notification, the pop-up window would be there and he/she would not miss it.

Now it seems the notification is the small pop-up at the lower of the screen that vanishes after a few seconds, really easy to miss.

Is it possible to configure a pop-up window for calendar events? Thanks.

Rafael, I recommend that you make a new Propose Idea thread so your suggestion does not get lost within this topic.  Thanks!

The workaround (until this is fixed) is to set the reminder to 0 minutes.

This issue wasn't fixed on the lasted builds, 7751 and 7753, right?

I made a few tests and setting a Reminder to any value other than "0 minutes" does nothing.

The reminder notification system was been almost entirely rewritten for better performance and reliability. It should be available in the next public release after 7753.
