What Michael suggests totally makes sense -- why have a small text box as the only thing on the entire tab?
Which brings me to my point -- why is this on a separate tab to begin with? Drop the tab and put the 'Description' text box on the same tab as the rest of the event info like Google (Gmail) does. Then it will be used more often, easily seen, and more convenient for the user who won't have an extra click on every event to see if there's a description.
