Is there a way to add Contacts on the Global Address List to Categories?

I would like to organize contacts on the GAL into Categories, however it seems as though I need to copy them all to My Contacts to make this happen. This seems like to much work, am I missing something?

I am also searching for a anwer to this question. Anybody out there that can answer this and if they needed to be copied to my contacts would be nice to have a automatic way to add them to my contacts instead of manually adding them one at a time.
