This yellow colored notification is really persistent and annoying. Everytime i log into the webmail this notification pops up. Please give us the choice to switch this off forever :-)

It is supposed to be annoying.  Without it, you won't see email, calendar, chat notifications etc.

We haven't had this request before.  Why do you want notifications off for webmail?

On a personal note -- I'm an individual who HATES browser notifications -- I have them disabled GLOBALLY...

Browser notifications are a huge source of "unfiltered communications" from sites with questionable motives. There are legitimate sites that use them - but our experience with end users has shown that disabling them removes just another vector for click-bait scams and links to questionable sites. While this concept doesn't apply to the SmarterMail application on it's own - there is a whole wide internet many of us are fighting against to keep our users safe online.

It's understandable to ask why someone wants notifications off -- but the real question is if a user preference is chosen, why is the application persistently notifying about it?   Once a user dismisses the warning, that should be the end of it.  For me, if I'm in webmail, I'm notifying myself - or it has a title-bar change to indicate new mail.

I agree, this nag is even more annoying than the notifications themselves. We should not have to dismiss this a dozen times a day managing multiple SM installations for customers.

I am well aware I dislike browser notification and have disabled them, no need to be reminded over and over again. This should be the customer's choice, not what the developer deems 'best' or 'proper' webmail usage.

Agreed. It never goes away for sys admin too. I created a Adblock filter that gets rid of it.

I agree!

Awesome! This will please many of our users who have asked about an option to disable it.

You can't say they don't listen

Just upgraded.

Yes, very annonying indeed.  Yes, browser notifications are shady, especially when visiting untrusted websites.

Yes, we should be able to disable this popup.  What users do on their local web browsers is up to them.

We would like to have this setting default to OFF for all users.  Thank you!

Hi all,

In Build 8657 (Sep 14, 2023), we've added the ability to dismiss these toasts:
Changed: The browser notification and logging warning toast notifications can now be dismissed versus simply closed.

Note that the "dismissed" state is stored in the browser storage, so as long as this isn't cleared in your browser, you'll no longer see these toast notifications.

I hope this helps!
