Thunderbird 102+ and SmarterMail CalDAV/CardDAV
Problem reported by Sébastien Riccio - 9/18/2022 at 4:00 PM
Resolved
Hello,

Some customers reported that they can't access anymore their calendars through CalDAV.

I gave it a shot and noticed that with TB 102+ the TbSync extension is not compatible anymore and that it uses TB's own "Add a calendar" menu to connect a remote calendar.

And unfortunately, yes it seems it's not working (it can't find any calendar to the specified URLs).

As everytime I want to check if a CalDAV/CardDAV client is having a problem, I tried to connect it to our Mailcow server that runs a SOGo based CalDAV/CardDAV end point, and it works like a charm...

Anyone else, noticed issues with TB 102+ and DAV connections to SM calendars ?

Thanks a lot.

Hey Sebastien,

From their addon page, it appears that TBsync doesn't support thunderbird 102.  Given that the addon is running on an unsupported version I expect that there would be some issues.
I tested tbsync on version 91 and it worked. Can you please provide a link to the version that you're testing with on 102? Does that version state that it's compatible with 102?

Hello Zach,

Yes, TbSync is not supported with 102+, but TB 102+ has a built-in support for CalDAV/CardDAV.
This is what the customer (and also myself for the tests) is trying to configure, unsuccessfully.

I tried the same process with another caldav server (other than SM) and it works correctly.

In the ticket I opened I attached two Fiddler trace files one for a successfull session with the other calddav server and one with the failing attempts with SM.

Kind regards

Hello Zach,

Thanks for confirming the issue and forwarding it to developpement team.
But, hmmm, you mean we would have to wait for the BETA and install it on production to have a fix for it ?

Kind regards.

Hello Everyone,

This issue has been fixed in the newest iteration of SmarterMail.
If you're still having issues please check that you're using your webdav link in the user's settings and that you're authenticating with the server. If that doesn't work then the Caldav module might be installed in IIS in which case you can see my reply on this forum post to fix that. https://portal.smartertools.com/community/a95356/update-to-build-8524-may-4-2023-iphone-webdav-stopped-working.aspx
