new version notification

I used to get an email saying there is a new version of SM but I haven't received one for a while now.

I'm not sure where that email came from, Smartertools or my local install of SM.

how do I get notified on new versions?

On your local SM installation you can create an Event (Category=System, Type=New Version Available) to get notified when a new version is available.
