Ticket Statuses report more tickets open than reality

I run a nightly Ticket Status report filtered by department showing Open Tickets. One department has two open tickets, but their report shows seven open tickets. I can find these cases when I search by email address and I see that the cases are closed.
 
Anyone encounter this or have any suggestions?
 
I'm still on Version 9.5.5154.21764.

I ended up tracking down the erroneous tickets using Advanced Search, then I deleted them. I couldn't find anything about their entry that would make them show up this way. They looked fine when I looked through the SQL DB.
