Import a calendar (.ics) into SmarterMail
Idea shared by Evert Ruiten - 8/10/2015 at 12:33 AM
Completed
Hi!

Is there a way to import a calendar, currently in Outlook, into SmarterMail? I could export an .ics file from my old Zimbra machine, but there is no option to import an .ics in SmarterMail.

Thanks upfront for any idea to get this sorted!

Evert, currently there is no way for you to import an ICS file into SmarterMail.  Because this has been recently implemented and will be available in the next minor release of SM 14.x, I am changing this thread from a Problem to an Idea and marking it Completed..  It will be found under the Actions menu on the Calendar page.

Hi Emmet, This is highly appreciated. I will wait for this update. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I was looking at this feature and noticed that there was no information in the online help. Also, nothing that explains "Get CalDAV URLs" which is also under the Actions menu.

Suggest adding these items to online help. Thanks!

I have the opposite problem in SmarterMail 15. How can I remove an .ics calendar that I have imported? I imported something to a shared calendar that should have been imported to my personal calendar. it is nothing bad, just an astronomy calendar, but I really would like to get rid of it on the shared calendar. Right now I have to just delete every item individually, and the calendar goes on for YEARS. I've created a monster.

Once an ICS has been imported it is merged with the events in the current calendar. There is no automatic way of removing these.

YEP. That is just what I suspected. Well, a friend of mine has a saying: "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough." so I'll be deleting the phases of the moon for years to come. :)

Noreen, if you IM me the domain calendar xml (assuming you have access to it), I can create a quick tool to remove those moon phases. Then I can return the modified calendar to you. It would require a service restart -- and any changes to the domain calendar from the time you sent it until I sent it back would not be applied...

Wow, that is so generous of you. I am out of the office until Tuesday, (and away from my computers) but will see if I can get that file to you then. Thank you so much!

Just got a hint from SmarterMail support - went to ALL APPOINTMENTS, sorted by CALENDAR and was able to delete all the astronomical info by selecting it all (most of it was far enough in the future to be all lined up together) and deleting them all at once. Now I can go on vacation without thinking of this. Thanks for your offer Robert!
