Calendar ICON images

This is just  a cool design idea. 
 
The Calendar ICON in the left NAV could be made to be real time, so the date in the ICON image would be the correct date.
 
In the image below if it was implemented the NAV bar ICON would say "5"

Taking it to a new level hovering could show all of the remaining appointments, or the next couple, that you have coming up without requiring a click to see the calendar.
