Update to SmarterMail Build 9455
Problem reported by Sabatino - 11/21/2025 at 12:51 AM
Not A Problem
I'm about to upgrade to SmarterMail Build 9455 from 100.0.9168.31407.

What should I expect? Should I start praying? :-)
I don't use MAPI/EWS.
1,500 users, 200 domains, only IMAP and a few POP.

I updated a few hours ago.
So far everything seems to be working fine...

Hi,

Not sure if related to this very build, but while testing some stuff with latest build (testing if scheduled folder was now gone from e-mail clients), I noticed that in my emClient the autodiscover in emClient, for my EWS enabled account doesn't work anymore.
It was working correctly months ago.

If I disable EWS for the account, the autodiscover for the same account works correctly.

Not sure that's related to this update though.

I asked in emClient forum if there is a way to turn on debug log to get to the bottom of this.

Kind regards.

I just set up my account at home (was only using eM Client for Gmail) and autodiscover worked just fine for my SmarterTools account. There haven't been any EWS-related changes in the last few updates, so not sure what may be the issue. I'm on 10.3.2619 at home, if that matters.

Thank you for the feedback Derek.

I'm not sure it has something to do with the SmarterMail update so if I can get somehow to get emclient do generate debug logs about the autodiscovery process, I might be able to find what is going on.

It's strange that it works good if i disable EWS for this account, the autodiscover is successfull.

I tried to get some fiddler capture but it looks like emclient autodiscover process is not captured by Fiddler (with HTTPS decrypt enabled of course)...

Kind regards.

Hey Derek,

The autodiscover was failing in emClient right after displaying "Contacting o365 (spy) network....".

So to try to bypass this I added into to my C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" file:

127.0.0.1 autodiscover.outlook.com outlook.office365.com

And now autodiscover is working again with EWS enabled.

It looks like MS has stored some informations about my domain on their cloud, even that I never used the domain with any of their service, except a few weeks ago, I tried to configure my account in the "New outlook".

I suspect this is the root cause... What a mess this ç"*%" piece of software is !
It seems that trying to connect your mailbox using this crap will then cause trouble for autodiscover...

Kind regards

Thought I replied to this over the weekend, Sebastien. Thanks for posting the workaround.

We are having issues with one user receiving emails dated the day before the actual day. Always received at midnight desopite the headers and logs saying otherwise....

Hey, Brian. Glad we have a ticket going on this.

Yeah, that's an interesting one: as you say, the logs and headers show the proper day/time but they're displayed improperly in webmail. Will be a fun one to figure out :).

Yeah and outlook MAPI as well.

So the wrong date and time is displayed both on the server and in the client..... and thats pretty weird.

Sorry, Brian, but we haven't seen or received any reports of this type of issue so far...

Everything seems to be working fine here (on 6 different SmarterMail servers, 5 on different versions of Windows Server, and 1 on Debian Linux 12...)

🤷‍♂️

Yeah. Its pretty weird... only one user affected on the domain.

Downgraded to 9420 to see if it gives a different result.
