Smartermail 9322 - EML import

Good day,

We have 2 mail servers, 1 live server and another as a backup in case we have an issue on the live server, we can switch on the fly to make sure we maintain email services quickly. Well that day happened yesterday and at the end of the day.Live server went down and we had to switch to our backup server.

Long story short here, I need to recover the previous GRP file with the same day so everyone has their email because the backup mail server only syncs email every 12 hours right now. So I am using GRP File Splitter to get the raw EML files from the GRP file I need to recover from, I am doing this because when the backup server became the live server, we now had 2 GRP files with split data.

Anyway, I copy the EML files in question to the user's Inbox and then issue the rebuild command from the domain section, however the rebuild gives me a notificiation that the rebuild was successful, but yet the EML files are still in the directory and never got touched, then approximately 20 or so minutes later, they finally get built into the GRP files and I check to9i verify that we are good to go.

My question is this, I don't recall the rebuild taking a long time in the previous v17 Smartermail but it was a pain to stop the service and drop the files in, the restart Smartermail. The user does have a lot of email, so I am guessing this is why it takes so long for the EML file to get migrated in?

The rebuild does quite a bit and if they have a large folder (vs many small folders) I could see it taking longer than normal. We may have also added newer logic into that since you last rebuilt. It does quite a bit now since its kind of "repair-all" for the mail folder. For example sometimes when we're trying to find a particular message we may need to open or check multiple GRPs instead of just one. We also may have to re-read each email to check it for attachments, signed parts, calendar information, etc. We do have a debug log (only enable this IF you want to debug) '111' that can show this process in more detail.
