Mailing Lists Sender list from address
Question asked by Richard Laliberte - 1/31/2025 at 3:52 PM
Unanswered
Just a quick question, not sure if i am missing something or not. When sending out a mailing list blast, it shows up in everyone's inbox with the List from address (noreply@...) I've tried a few different things to change this to a more professional display name, but so far I'm coming up empty.

We are hoping to start offering more mailing list functionality to our clients via our in-house built CMS, and this is basically the last piece I'm missing. We are currently using 9124, any looking to upgrade to 9155 probably this weekend.

Thanks.

Hello,

The Sender address can be adjusted in the Mailing List settings (List From Address)

  • List To Address - The email address that will display in the To field when a subscriber receives a mailing list message. Setting this to List Address means that the email address associated with the list will display as the To: address when recipients receive the message. The other option is to use the Subscriber Address, which means each subscriber will see their own email address in the To: field.
  • List From Address - The email address that will display in the From field when a subscriber receives a mailing list message. By default, this is set to List Address. However, the email address of the person who posts to the list can be used, or each message to list subscribers can come from a specific user.
  • List Reply To Address - The email address that will display in the Reply To field when a subscriber receives a mailing list message. When a subscriber hits 'Reply' to the message, this address will receive the reply. If a subscriber hits 'Reply All' all list recipients will receive the reply. By default, this is set to List Address, but just as with the From address, the poster's address can be used or replies can be sent to a specific user.

Thanks for the reply Tony, but i don't think this is quite what i am looking for.

For instance, when i send out a letter to our mailing list, right now the email clients will show "noreply@miramar.ca", because we are currently using the Poster Address. what i'm hoping to accomplish to to show a name similar to other emails, which generally show up as "Miramar Design Studio <noreply@miramar.ca>" i tried sending with that format in the past, but never had any success getting it send correctly.

Like this?

What I did here was to change the "Display Name" of the poster.

ok, that definitely works in most cases, i'm assuming there is no way to change this when sending eh? for instance, we do a mailing list for a restaurant, and they send out coupons every 2 weeks. They all use 1 domain name for emails, but we'd like to customize the display name per store when sending (Lake Street Coupons ...  1st Avenue Coupons) not the worst if this is not an options, just would be nice.

and Thank you very much for pointing out the display name, we completely missed that as we didn't think it was related to mailing lists, we were to focused on trying to get per email custom display names.

Richard,

Depending on how you are sending out, you could adjust the Display Name on the fly before sending out the message. This may lead to mistakes in the future if you forget to change it and end up sending it with the wrong Display Name.

I don't know if that's a feature that can be requested in the future? but for now, could i use the edit contact API to change the display name of the account before sending out items to the mailing list? everything we are doing with mailing lists at this point is done through API's (minus the actual sending).

Thanks
