PDF attachments showing up as ATT00001.bin file

I'm not sure if this is related to the bad 8965 update for sure but it seems to be. We did install the patch and MAPI is working. But now the customer has an issue sending pdfs. If you right click on PDF>Send to>Mail recipient it creates email in Outlook. If you send it to someone else in their company, it shows up as pdf. If they send it to external email address,  the pdf attachment shows up as an ATT00001.bin file. If you save the file and rename to .pdf, the file opens properly. If you attach the pdf from Outlook, or from webmail, it shows up properly. If you send it from another office 365 account in the same outlook profile, it shows up properly. So it seems to be related to SM and Outlook. How can I troubleshoot this further?

Hello Antony,

Can you send me a test ( ascholz@beta.smartermonito.com ). One using {PDF>Send to>Mail recipient} and another using any of the other methods that do not break the PDF.

In the Subject indicate the method please.

I would like to review the encoding of the message to see what I can find. I will do some local testing as well. Thank you

Tony,

  Looks like you left out the "r" at the end of smartermonitor.com the email address you gave will bounce back as it is not a registered valid domain.

It looks like this one in particular was converted to a BIN file, all others look to have remained as PDF files:

Dave, good catch. Antony caught it as well, the messages came in. I am indeed seeing the same issue and am in the process of tracking it down and trying to replicate. Thank you

@Antony

When I right-click on the PDF from my desktop select "Send To" then "Mail Recipient" the message pops up in Outlook. I send to another user ( several ) as Plain text ( default ) and also testes as HTML and "Rick Text" and so far they are coming through as expected.

I think the issue is in how I am sending he PDF. Do you have it open in a program when you select "Send To"? If so what program?

I created a ticket for this as well so you can send additional details there is needed.

Thank you
