Upgrade to 8902 and Block Country by Authentication records lost
Problem reported by Ron Raley - 5/29/2024 at 5:07 PM
Submitted
Today, we had to rebuild our "Block Country by Authentication" records under Settings > General

I suspect this was caused by a recent upgrade, but not sure.  We put them back.  Will keep an eye on if they get cleared again.

Ron,

How long after your upgrade would you estimate the "Block Country by Authentication" records disappeared? I'm currently trying to replicate this for you.

Jorel,

When upgrading from 8895 to 8902

I believe it changed in the settings.json to "blocked_countries_at_auth":{"type":0,"countries":[]} after the upgrade.

Yes it looks like it happened to us to, thank you for posting, as it made me notice this too.

Would you say this happened the same day as the upgrade, or did it take some time to occur? If you'd like, you can open a ticket and I'll take a closer look at your block list for a more faithful replication.

Joel, to be honest I do not recall exactly when.

Hey Ron! :-) Do you keep backups from prior to upgrades by chance? If so, we can likely collect a copy of your system level JSON configuration files and use these to attempt replication of these issues on upgrade.

In SM Build 8909 i add countrys to block in general settings and i save the changes. Later all the entrys are gone. the list is empty.

I'd like to get a ticket started with both of you if that's alright? I can't reproduce these issues in-house but I suspect there is an issue in there somewhere since two of you are seeing it now.

Kyle, what do you need? I'll zip it for you and start a ticket. JSON files of before/after 8902 upgrade? MRS folder? I've got you. I know yall want to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks Ron! If you could zip up a copy of the system level settings.json file from before/after the upgrade that should be perfect as we can fake the rest. That will be in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SmarterTools\SmarterMail\Service\Settings directory by default.
