We would like an option to allow/disallow Mail Retrieval for users. In this case, I would like to disable that feature. And able to propagate it as well please.

I don't quite understand the question. For each mailbox you have the option to say whether you want to activate or deactivate SMTP incoming, SMTP outgoing, IMAP, POP, MAPI, etc.
Webmail can function like a mail client (e.g. Outlook/Apple Mail, etc.) with multiple email accounts . You can setup IMAP / MAPI / EWS accounts to other smartermail accounts, IMAP servers, gmail, MS, etc.

The biggest issue I see is people merging multiple accounts into the same Inbox and that is a support nightmare for us.
