Can the email preview pane be disabled?

First of all, I love the tools - they are quick and it has a great interface - nice work! I see some room for improvement but overall I'm very pleased.

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the email preview pane? I've always used a Yahoo browser-based email address in the past and have my 'images' turned off and the preview pane disabled so that I can protect myself from malware and virus threats. I try to read only emails from people I know or those that I know that I can trust. However, I once received an email from a person in my office and right after opening it, had my PC taken over by a virus and had 4 years of graphics work deleted before I could take action. It was a terrible loss for me (yes, I know, I should have backups - I did but my brand new tape backup failed and all was lost anyway). Since then I've been extra cautious and was concerned when seeing that the preview pane was on by default and couldn't find a way to disable it. I generally don't view any inline images unless they've been cleared on my end as 'safe'. I telecommute 100% of the time and unfortunately get tons of unwanted mail. This new account using ST is new for me and I'd let to ensure that I've done all that I can to protect my client's data - and my work as well.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Piece of cake. Below are the steps.

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click the Settings (Gear Icon)
  3. Click on the Webmail tab. There you will see a setting called "Preview Pane". Change the value from "Right Side" to Disabled.
  4. When you view your mail areas now you will not have a preview pane.

Matthew, Shaun,

The ability to disable or move the preview pane is tentatively scheduled for a comeback in a minor release such as 16.1 or 16.2. Please stay tuned by subscribing here:
