Webmail client shows either list or email depending on width of browser

If I have the webmail client opened with the Inbox being shown in a WIDE browser window, I see the list as normal... but as soon as I make the browser window NARROW, the list disappears and the first email will be opened. (The preview window setting is set to off but seems to be ignored in narrow windows.)

The width that is required to do this seems to vary based on what happened last. For example, if I simply viewed the Inbox, the width needs to be VERY NARROW to cause this. If I just purged marked as deleted, the width needs to be about what a mobile browser would be.

The issue with this is that on a mobile device, once I purge marked as deleted, the first email in the list gets opened instead of going back to the list after I purge.

I have employees/clients who are complaining to me about this.

Hey Brian, I took a look and this appears to happen when the width of the window is less than 200 pixels. I will go ahead and submit this as a bug but I don't see how you could possibly work with a window this narrow.

If I don't use the deleted items folder, but use the purge marked as deleted, the window doesn't need to be as narrow as 200px. So it happens all the time after a purge. Why this would be different, I obviously have no idea... but it is indeed the case.

Zach,

1) After I do a "purge" the window only has to be about 738 pixels wide. Between 730-745ish all kinds of wierd stuff happens. Changing by 1px will go from list to first email and then back to list...like there are a bunch of hard-coded widths.

2) Also at between about 1253px and 738px the "search, filter, sort, settings" start to disappear until the width is less than 738 which triggers the "smaller" layout.

3) At the same time, this preview window keeps showing up and disappearing whenever I change the width. Why?
