Does anyone know if there is a client for Android (and maybe also for iOS...) that works with EWS for mail, calendars and contacts?

It should support (besides mail) also calendars and contacts...

Here's what I've found:
  • AquaMail
    • "Support for standard Internet email protocols: IMAP, POP3, SMTP; Exchange: EWS" (reference)
  • Blue Mail
    • "Support for … Exchange (ActiveSync, EWS, 365)"
    • cloud-involved
  • Email TypeApp
    • "Supporting … all Exchange protocols including Exchange Web Services (EWS)"
    • probably cloud-involved
  • MailCal for Exchange
    • "email and calendar client that uses EWS/OWA/Webmail"
  • MailDroid
    • various forum postings discuss EWS support
  • MobiMail
    • "Exchange Web Services (EWS) is required on the Exchange server"
  • Newton Mail
    • "Supports Calendar for Gmail, Google Apps, and Exchange (EWS)"
    • cloud-involved
  • Stack Mail, a.k.a. Ginger Mail, a.k.a. Squash Mail
    • "Please make sure that EWS (Exchange Web Services) is enabled on your Exchange server"

Hello Brian,

I've tested this app and I can say

  • AquaMail: NOT working
  • Blue Mail: NOT working (as said here)
  • Email TypeApp: seems working but it doesn't sync
  • MailCal for Exchange: not found on Play Store
  • MailDroid: cannot install on S20
  • MobiMail: not found on Play Store
  • Newton Mail: must create a Newton Account / 14 days trial / works fine
  • Stack Mail: paid one, not tested
I hope to be helpful.

Why is eM Clilent not on your list? I thought I saw a posting some place about increased co-operation between eM Client and SmarterMail.

In that posting SmarterMail has some kind of co-op agreement with eM Client and is testing this APP as part of SmarterMail's process.

eM Client for Android and iOS is in beta.
for mail you can use outlook or gmail. calendar integration is with the integrated calendar app or you can use business calendar (pro)

Yesterday I tested Aquamail and BlueMail with Smartermail 8538: they both work in EWS mode, but only for email. No calendar or contacts.
AquaMail explicitly states that calendars and contacts only work with EAS.

I'm also testing EM Client, but it's still in BETA and has limited functionality

Whats the advantage of EWS versus EAS?

Hi, Brian!

The advantage of EWS over EAS is mainly in costs:

EWS is included in the MAPI license and is available to all users (like MAPI), so it has no additional cost if you already use MAPI/EWS.

EAS is an ADDITIONAL annual license that goes to blocks of users (25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, etc...) and therefore has two disadvantages:

1 - it costs more (and not a little...)

2 - it must be managed user by user if you don't want to waste licenses (so it also costs management time)

EDIT:
3 - EWS supports read-only shared folder syncing, while EAS doesn't

Also, this discussion says that read-only synchronization will be supported on EWS after a bug fix, while EAS only synchronizes read-write

Douglas, thanks! I will edit my answer so you can find all there...
