SmarterTools network unreachable from most of Europe

Hello,

It seems the smartertools network (even the DNS servers) aren't reachable at all from most part of europe (tried from 6-7 different places/countries).

The only way I found to reach here is through some US-based VPN hosts.

Is there some routing problems ongoing for ST network or maybe some other issues like a region blacklist enabled on ST network ? Anyone experiencing same issue ?

Same here, but it seems to be provider related. From my office is ok, from my home was unreachable.

but it seems to be resolved now

Not resolved from here. Many DNS servers returns SERVFAIL while trying to resole stuff on smartertools.com domain.

Site and portal has been down for 48+ hours according to online testtools.

Only early this morning did it come back online from Denmark.

and if I remember right this was already one weekend ago with "unreachable" not loading the SmarterTools-homepage and/including Community forum

There were significant DNS attacks over the weekend of which we were affected. We will be sending an email today to all customers with more information.

Last week GitHub, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon were affected. Major DNS servers are getting compromised causing huge NXDOMAIN storms on random hosts. In February, ClouldFare was dealing with something similar and I think they reached 71 million requests a second. When we get more information on companies and networks affected, we will pass it along. It usually takes a few days to see what outages were related and who was compromised.
