BlueMail Desktop doesn't work with SmarterMail using EWS protocol
Problem reported by Gabriele Maoret - SERSIS - 8/16/2022 at 12:37 AM
Known
I'm testing some alternative mail clients and found that BlueMail Desktop doesn't work with SmarterMail using EWS protocol.

It seems to connect to the server (the autoconfiguration works and it's connected via EWS), but after that I can't see any mail, calendar nor contact.

It seems that it can't comunicate at all (apart login)

Hello Gabriel,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I have never even heard of Blue Mail before and it's an amazing minimalist email client. And on top of that, it's free. I was able to replicate your issues with EWS. I did test it with EAS and that works so for now you can use that as an alternative. We will provide updates on this thread.

Kind Regards,

Hi Zack! Even EAS is not working, there's issues as I write here:

In addition to the desktop applications for Windows, I want to ask you and your team if there is a good free application for ANDROID (alternative to Outlook and Gmail) that you would recommend because it works well with SmarterMail.

We have an open ticket with a client about BlueMail not working either (using EWS), it authenticates and just sits spinning its wheels never downloading any mail. It populates the folders correctly, that's the end of it.

Even the SM logs for EWS are empty, it does a few items then that is all, no further communications.

Hi all,

I wanted to give you an update on where we're at with BlueMail. We're currently working on a significant new build, and we wanted to get BlueMail solid for that release. However, while looking into this connection issue with BlueMail, the developers found some security concerns with the email client that are preventing them from testing things further. Unfortunately, BlueMail has not responded to our messages, and our progress with BlueMail will be halted until they do. We'll provide updates as they become available.

We have spent weeks attempting to reach out to anyone and everyone at BlueMail.

From our perspective, they seem like they are out of business.

They have a bug that needs fixing.  It is blocking all other testing.
