Address book empty
Question asked by Piet Piedro - 5/3/2021 at 3:49 PM
Answered
In the left column of Outlook 2019 is Contacts (Only this computer). This is no use when e-mailing. This file has been converted to .pst. It is a file of approximately 150 mail addresses. A time-consuming job to write everything down and put it back in the address book.
Is there a possibility to transfer the .pst file to the address book?
I'd love to hear from you.

I tested this in my own Outlook MAPI connection, and I found that the following steps should allow you to import an address book pst into Windows Outlook.
  1. Log into the desired account/profile in Outlook Windows
  2. Make sure you know where you have downloaded the pst to on your computer
  3. Click the file button in the top left
  4. Click “Open & Export”
  5. Click “Import/Export”
  6. In the Import and Export Wizard select “Import from another program or file” and click next
  7. Select “Outlook Data File (.pst) and click next
  8. Click browse and go to the location of the pst file and double click it
  9. Click next
  10. In the “Select the folder to import from” window, click the dropdown arrow next to “Outlook Data File,” select Contacts and click finish.
  11. You should then see the imported address book in “My Contacts”

Thank you for the response.
Apologies for my late response.
As a retired 82-year-old man you are running out of time! Time flies. (The truth is actually you've slowed down)
I had also found your described method.
The .pst file is put in the contacts (Only this computer) but there is no synchronization with the address book.
I have two folders "Contacts (Only this computer)" available! One with a few addresses that I created in the Address Book and the other contains contacts from the previous computer.
By searching the internet I found out that you can move addresses from one folder to another.
This is only possible with a few addresses at the same time. A hell of a job but always better than writing down all the addresses and having to put them back in the address book.
My address book is now complete again.

Next time I'll do it differently. First create a contact in the new address book and then install the "contacts.pst" file using the method described by you. You can then point to the created Contacts folder and the address book is complete.
Thanks again for thinking along.
