Use case for when marking an email as read
Idea shared by Andy Kaufman - 2/18/2021 at 3:15 PM
Here's the situation:

Let's say I have 5 unread emails in my SmarterMail inbox. I click on the second one because it seems to be a priority. I read it, respond, and then delete it.

When I delete it, the list on the left highlights the next item in the inbox and then marks it as unread. I understand why, but I haven't really read it. In fact, I want to jump down to the last message and read that next.

Multiple times a day I have to go back and mark a message as unread because SmarterMail thinks I read it. Once again, I understand why--it just creates wasted time each day, which is not something you're intending to do.

I would prefer the "Read" state to only be set when I click on a message in the list on the left.

Thank you for considering this idea.
