Smartermail server ImapRetrieval folder large, many mails stuck in it.

May I ask if anyway to improve its performance and why mails stuck in this folder?

About 14 GB files in this folder.

For mail migrations we use this tool as works considerably faster and more efficient than smartermail's retrieval
