Error: Redirected You Too Many Times ...
Problem reported by Ben Santiardo - 8/13/2020 at 6:18 AM
Submitted
I have been dealing with this issue for quite some time, over 6 months for sure. I have a feeling it is a Chrome issue because it started shortly after one of their forced updates. I posted on the Chrome forum, and have been told it is not their issue, but that it must be a problem with SmarterTrack.

The problem is that quite often, visitors to the website are getting an error that states:

The only way to fix this is to clear the cookies associated with the URL being visited. I just upgraded to the most recent version of SmarterTrack, in the hopes that this error might be resolved, which unfortunately was not the case. The error persists.

Any thoughts?

Good morning to you Ben! This error does appear to be something browser related due to it resurfacing after some time. Do you have any browser extensions you use daily that might affect this behavior? Another possibility might be in your IIS bindings, can you PM me a screenshot of what those look like? If you can get a ticket submitted on this we'd be happy to take a look for you. Have a good one Ben!

I upgraded to the latest version yesterday , and it was necessary for me and every one of our agents to clear their cookies in order to load the site. I must presume that this is also the case for any of our customers who have previously visited the site...not helpful to need to handle support issues via telephone that arise from our support site being inaccessible...

I do realize that this update addresses the SameSite cookie issue, and perhaps that's the reason that this is happening??

Fred,

I have two HelpDesks coming across this same exact problem, running on two completely different environments. I have a support ticket in for a while now, still don't have a resolution, unfortunately.

We've been getting this error as well over the last couple of months occasionally, but now every day when a session expires. We rebooted our support servers to see if that would help. We haven't upgraded our version for a while (maybe 6 months?) and it's been fine forever until about the beginning of September. I'm hitting https://myurl.com/Default.aspx and it returns a 302 to /Default.aspx which then does the same creating an endless loop. I'm not sure why it doesn't realize it is already on /Default.aspx. But it would be good to figure this out soon!
