Public Beta - Contact field "other phone" discarded when using EAS
Problem reported by Sébastien Riccio - 12/23/2019 at 3:52 PM
Resolved
Hello,

Some customers using iPhones with ActiveSync reported to us that when phone number are added to contacts under the "other phone" field, these are not visible on the webmail.

Especially a customer that has all his 1000+ contacts phone numbers saved as "other" phone (I don't know the reason for this).
So all his contacts numbers aren't visible on SmarterMail webmail.

I have no iPhone to test it, but i've tried it from Outlook using ActiveSync, and the problem is the same.
When in Outlook I add data on "other phone", it's not visible in SM.
Also strange thing, when I add data to "Other phone" in the webmail, it is not visible in Outlook (reverse problem).

I think there is a field mapping issue with the "Other phone" field in activesync implementation.

Kind regards.

I'm having a problem with iPhones and EAS with the beta. None of the contacts will display.

Sébastien,

EAS only has the ability to sync a limited set of phone number types. Unfortunately, the Other phone type is not supported by the EAS protocol. This means that some clients support phone types that are only saved locally and do not get synced to the server over EAS.
