Community Portal cannot search for the word 'Locale'

Background: We are finding issues with the SmarterMail locale settings, after moving from v15 to v16.

Issue: Searching portal.smartertools.com for 'Locale' gives numerous matches, the first hundreds of which do not seem to include the word Locale within the item.

Is the search function searching against metadata which somehow includes the Locale keyword?

This seems a bug in the search function...
