EWS Push and Mac clients

I guess I have several related questions that I haven't been able to find a concrete answer for regarding EWS Push for Mac clients on the latest High Sierra build.  This includes Mac Mail, Mac Calendar, Mac Contacts, and Outlook 2016 for Mac.

1) Does SmarterMail 16.x support EWS Push?

2) Mac Mail/Calendar/Contacts do not appear to support EWS Push.  There is no choice for push when you set an account up as an Exchange account like there are with some other options like Google.  Is this correct that native Mac clients do not support EWS Push?

3) Does Outlook 2016 for Mac support Push?  I haven't gotten around to installing this yet.

I do realize that Push is supported using EAS and that native Mac clients can be set to pull as frequently as once a minute, and while this isn't perfectly optimal, it's not a deal breaker and likely a limitation with Mac software and not SmarterMail software in the event that SmarterMail otherwise supports EWS Push.

Bumping this.  I would really appreciate an answer from SmarterTools as I'm pretty sure this information is solidly known internally.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Matthew,

I test with a Mac on High Sierra version 10.13.6 and a Mac with the beta version of Mojave and they support push notifications.  Outlook 2016 on Mac supports push notifications as well.  SmarterMail does send off notifications to EWS clients who have subscribed to push notifications.

Open the calendar app and open the preferences menu.  Under the accounts tab, click on the Exchange account you're interested in and then make sure you're on the account information tab.  There should be an option called refresh calendars where you can choose push, every min, every 5 mins, etc.  I believe the other sections should have a similar setting in their respective locations.

Regards.

Thanks for this.  I rechecked after your post and my High Sierra (10.15) upgrade had failed.  I was still on Yosemite (10.10).  I'm a Mac newb.  It was pull only on Yosemite using native clients.

You're welcome.  I believe they added push notifications at some point in Yosemite but I'm not sure which version.  There was either a change to the Mac apps or to Outlook which caused us to rewrite our EWS implementation to support push notifications a couple of years ago.
