Wiped calendar on all users of all domains after upgrade to SM 16.3.6740
Problem reported by Giorgio Borra - 6/18/2018 at 11:40 AM
Resolved
Hi, after upgrade SM 16.3.6705 to SM 16.3.6740 all calendars of all users have been wiped.
We try to uninstall, reboot then reinstall SM 16.3.6740 with no changes.
All calendars disappears.
The only solutions were uninstall SM 16.3.6740 and reinstall SM 16.3.6705.
After that all calendars works fine.

Giorgio

We had the same issue here! I cant believe ST releases updates that mess up this big!

I had two customers lose the sharing ability. Uninstalled reinstalled the version 16.3.6733 (June 8, 2018). Fixed the issue. I could not go back further because that would break the calendar for the all day appointments showing up a day earlier.

I was just checking to see if I was the only one experiencing issues with the calendar.

I am not sure how to check every scenario when I upgrade SM version 16. Each time something else seems to break that was working fine.

We see the same calendar issues on 16.3.6740. We will have to revert back to 16.3.6733 tonight if no fix is released.

I am going to wait on any more updates. I have upset enough customers over the last few months.

Thanks for killing the calendar :( I just installed this build and I still have empty calendars after checking web mail and going to the month view. Stop releasing Friday builds, users including myself stop installing builds on Friday! There is no QA!!!

CalDav is dead as well FYI, unable to connect from Mac.

We still see empty calendars in webmail with build 15.3.6743!

In my case I can't sync my android phone with the calendar anymore (using DAVdroid). A sync results in a bad web request.

Going back to 16.3.6705 fixed this problem.

I can confirm that caldav is not working anymore in the last version....although I haven't tried this in 6743 since that's not an official release.

NOT RESOLVED with that new build you sent, we had to go back a couple of versions to solve the issue

Several customers reporting the same issue. Tested the build above - no go. Rolling back to SM 16.3.6705, soon as peak mail time slows...

Another customer/reseller commented to us today - I think we will just quit trying to wait for SmarterMail to work out these issues and go to Outlook.com...

We have had customers report that all shared calendars disappeared in 6740. In 6744 - installed this morning, the customer can see personal calendars, and attempt to re-share shared calendars, but it only lasts for moments and then this error (or similar) is produced:

Did not have shared calendar connections with; currentUser <a href='mailto:USER...
This is repeatable on all domains on the server that have shared calendars.

So.... suggestions?

I assume this will be published as a normal release today or tomorrow?

ST - please be transparent and tell us how this problem came about and was not caught in testing. Obviously the issues that arose in 6740 were severe and should have been caught in any basic levels of Q/A whether automated or human testing. It appears you pump out builds relying solely on some minimum automated testing on Friday nonetheless so when a major issue arises you won't be able to address it 2-3 days later!

Has anyone confirmed that this build addresses the issue?

We too had this problem, proceeded by customers reporting slowness on their production calendars after the update from version 16.3.6663 to 16.3.6729.

SmarterTools provided us a "fix" on 12nd June (16.3.6737.27230), but it didn't solve the problem and created a new one: shared resources started to disappear, even after customers tried to create the shared calendar again.

We ended up to migrate this customer to another platform, because we couldn't afford to lose the customer. We've been seeing many problems with the last releases. Please be sure to test the this type of situations, as there are customers that depend on their calendars and e-mails to be able to do their work.

Best regards,
TR

We too had the problem when upgrading to 6740, calendars disappeared.

After upgrading to 6744, calendars where again visible in the webmail, but not on Outlook (shared with the "Add To Outlook" feature).

We upgraded yesterday to 6745 but calendar still not visible in Outlook (tried to remove the sharepoint share, adding again, but to no avail).

Seems calendars have a serious problem in SM, it already happened a few weeks ago, our customers start thinking this is not a reliable tool...

We have reverted to version 16.3.6705 on both production Mail servers since this was causing our users to be hopping mad... Holding at that version until **all** issues are fully resolved.

Additionally, this does not stoke my optimism about SM17... Though if we could move to the much-anticipated Linux version I would be a willing guinea pig for that... I am **tired** of M$ server licensing.

Matthew, why did you revert to 16.3.6705 ?
I thought the calendar bug was in .6740, so reverting to .6733 could be enough ?

I am a little surprised no one from SmarterTools is reading these forums. I am up for renewal. I have to renew because I am always having to update SmarterMail 16. I have zero plans to move to 17 after all the issues I have had with 16. It seems they are not concerned with all the issues and these are not little issues like the color changed on the all day appointment.

Will have to agree with SM17 being scary. Though I am looking forward to it for a lot of the new features. However the past year with SM16 has been nothing but a rollercoaster of upset support people on our side, pissed off customers, late night alerts waking senior support from their sleep because SM has crashed or is backing up. Good times :) Though, I will give credit, the ST support guys have pounded out our many many many many many support tickets and worked through many of our critical issues.

All,

We just released 16.3.6751. In it are fixes for the shared calendars losing their shares as well as the Add to Outlook issue that's been discussed. There's also a few other fixes for issues we found that were compounding problems.

We've obviously had a few tickets on these issues and others and worked with select customers to ensure things were resolved, hence the delay in pushing out a fix. It's one thing to test in our environment, but another to test across different production installations as those tend to have more variables that we can't replicate. Thanks for the fix, calendar back in Outlook.
On an iPhone, we had to delete/recreate calendar to make it work again.

But performance in the Calendar view is still abysmal for people with 2-3 attached calendars..
