Is there a way to synch a Google Calendar to a SmarterMail calendar?

Answered

Our client would like to have events published on a Google Calendar appear on their SmarterMail Calendar.

I have looked far and wide, and found no options. I had thought Zapier might provide a solution, but it seems there are no Zaps for SmarterTools.

Ideas most welcome,

Hi Hazen. Back on 5/27/2016 I asked this same question and SM support responded to me and said that there is not currently a way to sync the SmarterMail and Gmail calendars. However, you can do a mailbox migration and select to do just the calendar to get the calendar events from Gmail to SmarterMail.

I reached out to SM support again on 1/11/2017 and asked again if it was now possible. They told me that this may be possible in 16.x with the new API functionalities that will be available.

I'm not sure where they are with it today, but perhaps they will chime in here and let us know if the ability is there.

Thank you! it would be a great benefit for my client to have a real-time synching from their Google calendar to their SM calendar.

Hi Hazen. ST responded to my followup. They said the following...

"There is an API for the calendar, but we don't have the documentation completed for it yet. As for syncing the calendars, there wouldn't be a way to sync them in the web interface, but you may be able to sync them in a calendar app that you can have more than one calendar."

Has anyone figured this out yet? There are so many apps that can sync with Google Calendar that this is a huge feature request for ST. For example CRM applications, or calendar booking (Calendly), and project management applications (ClickUp, Asana, Trello).

Our biggest request with the calendar (like the Google one) is to allow the SM calendar to be integrated with a website (with an easy to use just copy paste a few lines of code into a web page). This is holding back quite a few customers from fully moving from Google.

Hi everyone,

This functionality was added in Build 7459 (Jun 3, 2020):
Users can now subscribe to external web/internet calendars in web interface.

When you navigate to your calendar actions, you'll find an option for "Subscribe to Calendar". This allows you to subscribe to internet/web calendars, such as a sports teams's schedule, the payroll calendar from your payroll provider, a holiday calendar you find on the internet, etc. You can use this with Gmail calendars as well. Just go to your calendar settings and look for the "Public address in iCal format" or "Secret address in iCal format".

Just note that subscription calendars are read-only within the SmarterMail interface.
