using webdav for calendars on Android
Question asked by Jim Capps - 12/5/2017 at 3:06 PM

I am trying to add user calendars and contacts to an Android phone. Their email is set up using IMAP. I have tried using a 3rd party Android app "Open Sync" to connect using CalDAV and CardDAV. It seems to set up without issue but does not pull any information. If I attempt to create a calendar through the app, I get a 403 - forbidden response. I did use the URL given in the web calendar for CalDAV URL.

I would want to contact the developer of the mobile app.

We have no known issues with WebDAV.  We use a few very large WebDAV clients to ensure all is operational.  The most touchy of those clients is MacOS and its WebDAV implementation.

I just noticed that app might be a wrapper around and open source implementation.  Might want to find another solution or possibly enable Exchange ActiveSync on the server which is more mobile / synchronization friendly.

Hope this helps,

Hi, Tim, I believe there are many issues with the WebDAV implementation. Both Caldav and carddav work erratically on MacOS. Ive tried the Apple apps like Calendar and Contacts and SM fails to update correctly in many occasions.

Then we switched to BusyCal and BusyContacts and the same thing happens. Every other cardav/caldav implementation we have works perfectly (iCloud, Google) except the WedDAV with Smartermail. I would kindly request that you really dig into your implementation and make sure it works fine for future releases. Thanks.
