Smartermail V16 can not remove domain admin role from user

We installed the latest verison of Smartermail and for temporary management I gave a colleague ( a domain admin role.
Now this is not necessary anymore so I changed the the domain admin back to the admin user ( However, the user still has access to all the domain settings.
Restarting the smartermail service did not unfortunatly not help.
Anyone an idea or is this a bug?
