HI

our client has reported an issue to us with webmail interface:

When sending a file with UTF8 (Greek) characters it completely renames the file and the extension. For example when sending the file [Ο Μιχαήλ Καρπαθίου παρά την εκπαίδευση του στα Ξενοδοχειακά και στο.docx] it renames it to [z4fOtc65zrHOus6sIM66zrHOuSDPg8+Ezr8uZG9jeA==_=]

When the same file is renamed to Englih [test.docx] there is NO issue.

In order to send certain characters in an email they need to be encoded. With the attachment name this is what you're seeing. We are encoding it into Base64 when sending it out. However, the Base64 text you provided is invalid as it contains an underscore at the end. As well, fixing the encoded text and decoding it reads [χειακά και στο.docx] instead of the original file name you specified.

Is the encoded text you sent completely unmodified, and does it come from the renaming of the file you specified or another?
Also, are you seeing the encoded text in SmarterMail or another client?

Hi Alex, I also found the same problem in SmarterMail 16.3.6592. When I received attachment with Chinese file name and underscore, I can not read the attachment and the file name will change to some coding like that nrYbpoZ5fZXcwMWZ1cjgwMOmhueebruaKpea4heWNlS5wZGY=_= . Please advise and fix the problem. Thank you very much.
Stephen

16.3.6600 has some fixes regarding attachment names, can you upgrade to the latest and retry?

Hi,
Is this issue still occurring on the latest version of SmarterMail, version 16.3.6614?
