SM16 Alias: from by default and web service
Idea shared by Charles Michel - 6/9/2017 at 9:41 PM
Completed
We can now send emails from an alias with SM16 which is great. Two suggestions though:

1. Would it be possible (either by default or as an option) to make it so that when someone responds to an email received on an alias, the alias is selected by default as the from address. This is particularly useful when there are many aliases and it becomes hard work to find the correct one in the drop down.

2. I do not see any way to configure an Alias to be enabled for sending emails from programatically. The svcAliasAdmin service doesn't seem to have been updated for this new feature. Or is there another webservice I should use for that?

thanks in advance

Hey, Charles. Glad you like the change. For #1, there's a setting on the Webmail card in Account Settings: Use To: address for replies. If this is toggled on, and the alias allows replies to be sent from it, then when a user replies to a message, it will default to the alias address.

Regarding #2, we're still working on the documentation for the API. We'll be releasing more and more with the next few minor releases, so stay tuned.

It worked. Thanks! For #2, is there already an URL of the new API that I can already play with ahead of the documentation being available or is it not deployed yet?

It is deployed, our web-frontend uses it. If you open chrome inspector while doing things you should see some API calls being made in the network tab.
