Add icons to icon dock - SmarterTools

Curious if there have been any others who have delved into this. We'd like to add icons to the side icondock that either:

1. open in new windows

2. open in the standard iframes on the interface that other functions such as notes,tasks, calendars, email, ect. open in

we have found the icon sprite/sheet/jpg and would just like a pointer or two on how to map a new addition to the icondock
