After reviewing the smarterstats deployment guide, I get the impression that running the smartermail service on each web server, and collecting the log files via UNC or FTP is the most efficient when multiple web servers are involved.

 

Currently I run smarterstats on its own server, install the service on each web server and the service grabs the log files via the local filesystem (i.e. E:\Logfiles\) as opposed to UNC.

 

If I wanted to switch over to the UNC method, I assume that the smarterstats logs would be stored on the smartermail server (as opposed to on the web server) and that the majority of the log file processing would happen on the smartermail server (as opposed to on the web server). 

 

In order to test this theory, would I need to drop and recreate the sites in SmarterStats, or can I just change the log location to UNC Path and update the log file paths?
