SmarterMail Spam filter questions
Question asked by Jay Altemoos - 10/3/2016 at 9:06 AM
Unanswered
So over this past weekend we moved our spam filtering to the built in features in SM from a previous product we were using. I have some questions that I could not have answered in what I looked  over on the documentation that I hope someone here can shed some light on. We are currently using SmarterMail Enterprise version 14.5.5907.

1. How do email client users report spam if they get some in the inbox? From what I can see is the user can flag something as spam or not spam directly in the web mail interface, but I saw nothing mentioned about users that strictly use a actual email client like Outlook or Thunderbird. Is there something I am missing here or is this not possible?

2. Is there a way to send users a blocked email report or spam report? Is this something you schedule in SmarterMail or is there a way for the user to request one? And if so, can they request it from their email client like Outlook or Thunderbird?

On the above 2 questions, is this something that could be available in a future build of SmarterMail? Or is this functionality already available in version 15? I didn't see anything there is the current build we are using.

The previous product we moved off of had the ability to submit spam to the filter directly through email clients but submitting to a special email address that only the spam filter knew about. Same thing with blocked message reports, a user submitted an email to the spam filter that it knew to run a blocked report for and emailed that user with the list. I don't see any of that available on the current build we are on with SmarterMail. I think something like this would help make SmarterMail better if either of these features are not there yet.

Jay, looks like this is a duplicate post, but I wanted to respond here as well just in case you look at this post instead of the first post you put up. My company, Mail's Best Friend offers a 100% free product called Declude which can do all of this. It plugs directly into SmarterMail with no issues. We have over 300 people using the Declude/SmarterMail combo and it works very well for them. If you are interested, please contact me directly and I can give you the details. Thanks.
