Customers using Untangle for network security may see issues relating to SmarterMail failing to send a STARTTLS command when sending email. This is especially true when using Untangle for spam filtering. This is due to TLS settings configuration within Untangle, but there is a simple solution for this:
- Login to Untangle as an administrator.
- Click on the Apps button.
- Select SpamBlocker or SpamBlocker Lite.
- Select the Email tab.
- Navigate to the Advanced SMTP Configuration dropdown, and enable Allow and Ignore TLS sessions.
- Click the Save button.
What you've done is disable TLS blocking related settings in Untangle. This will allow SmarterMail to send the STARTTLS command when sending email once again.
