How do configure and view Google Analytics
Problem reported by Sally Sloley - 8/21/2016 at 6:31 PM
Not A Problem
RE: kb/a2612/
I can't work out where I should log in to set this up.
And, I need to then know how to access the data once it's set up.
Any help would be appreciated.

The setting for your Google Analytics Site ID should be found at Settings > Configuration > Connected Services > Integrations tab. However, it appears to be missing in SmarterTrack 12.2.6074. I have alerted development and will change this thread from a Question to a Problem in order to track the status of this bug fix.

Thank you!

I think that the issue is that I can only log into the portal with my user id, which is fine for running my KB articles, but I can't log in with my admin credentials. Not sure why this is happening.

Ah, that would explain it. Thanks.

That's interesting, Sally. You should be able to access both your Portal and Management Interface using your agent/manager/admin login. After you log into the Portal, click on your name in the upper right corner. Do you see the option for "Management Interface"?

Yes, I can see that. Then I click on the settings icon at the bottom. Then I open Configuration in the left nav, then connected services. Then I see the Integrations tab, but see nothing for Google Analytics. Only max feeds, map provider, translation provider, requests to trans api and char to trans api.

Ahh I see... I thought you might be saying that you didn't have access to the Management Interface with your agent login. If you're able to view the Configuration settings folder, then you're logged in as the System Administrator and should have access to all settings. The reason you're not seeing the Google Analytics Site ID field, though, is because of the bug in this current version. Thanks for your clarification.

Hello Sally,

Apologies about this; I was actually wrong about this being a bug in the software. The Google Analytics Site ID field was moved in a minor version of 12.x to the Brand settings. This will allow you to do Google Analytics tracking for each brand you have configured.

Find the setting by logging in as the Administrator and going to Settings > Manage > Brands > Edit a Brand > Options tab > Google Analytics Site ID.

This has been updated in our documentation to reflect the new location.

You should have first created a site in Google Analytics for your support portal. When you enter that site's ID into SmarterTrack, it will allow you to track the pages and activity on your portal. Once you have enough data stored, you can review your results within Google Analytics itself.
