Tentative meeting requests in SmarterMail Version 15.0.5976 not showing tentative status
Problem reported by Carla Rogg - 6/17/2016 at 7:49 AM

The newly "Added: Meeting requests from email messages are now automatically added to a user's calendar in webmail with a tentative status." is not showing any sort of tentative status. When one checks availability from the meeting invite email it shows the meeting as a normal meeting, not tentative status, so it looks like one already has a meeting at that time. Most people will decline the meeting since they think they already have a meeting at that time. The meeting email gets sent to the deleted folder, removing the ability to accept the meeting and the individual is removed from the meeting on the calendar.
I don't know who at SmarterTools thought this was a good idea but I would suggest that they test their new ideas before releasing them!!!

Hello Carla,

Our most recent SmarterMail 15.2.6039 minor release addressed part of this: "Changed: Appointments that are marked as tentative no longer show as busy when checking the user's availability." You can check out the full release notes and download this version on the SmarterMail Downloads page.

Thanks,

Andrea, We agree that what did get fixed was that when you check availability from the invite email the popup no longer shows that meeting time already used. However, what you have not fixed is the fact that when a meeting invite is created it get put on the calendars of all who are invited with NO indications that designate that its a tentative meeting and not an accepted meeting.
We have never seen a corporate calendar system that puts non-accepted meetings on the calendar. You had a very good calendar system until you put this new tentative mess in place. Its a shame.
So, We would be thrilled if someone could make one of 2 things happen. Either allow the ability to turn this new tentative mess off(who has ever heard of putting a meeting on the calendar before its accepted), or at the very least indicate the tentative in a manner that they can be discerned from the accepted meetings.
Just a suggestion, maybe use the hover over a meeting to display its status as either accepted or tentative? Just a thought. Also, while I'm on a tear, we hacked the js to show in the hover who the user name of the meeting individual since even that part is not part of the calendar.
You guys do great work. But this new tentative meeting calendar stuff you implemented just didn't get thought out very well before its release. We are a company of 20. If we are struggling using this I can't imagine what a company of hundreds would face.

Agreed, Carla. I would suggest that this issue is, for the time being, not resolved.

Hi Paul and Carla.  I am seeing an issue here that I can reproduce pretty regularly.  I'll be getting this over to the developers, and I'll let you know once I have an update.
