Deleting Junk Email

A user mentioned that when he deleted messages from the junk email folder via webmail the message doesn't show up under the deleted items folder - even though his settings include "move deleted items to deleted folder".
 
Is anyone experiencing this problem? Is this on purpose? Is there a global setting? We are running SM 12.5.

Yes it is happening and I believe it is by design. If it is not a spam email then the user should mark as not spam, which will move it to the inbox. Then they can delete as expected.

Thank you Steve. A good workaround. It doesn't happen using an external email client either.

I am not sure this policy is a good idea though as it should follow the global user or domain specific rule of deleting to the deleted folder or otherwise. Perhaps it should be a separate option.
