New Feature to Prevent E-Mail Attachments

Am I correct in understanding that there is no way to prevent users from attaching files when submitting tickets via E-Mail specifically?

We have a situation where our customers usually send confidential information. We are okay with them attaching files using the portal or live chat as they are both SSL encrypted. However we do not want them to ever submit any files via E-Mail as this would violate confidentiality laws.

Is this possible? Wasn't this possible in previous versions?

Hello,
It seems it has changed a bit. If you don't want to allow the users to attach any documents you can go to Settings -> Configuration -> Security -> Uploads Tab and clear out all of the Allowed extensions for end user file uploads. this functionality should work the same as in 10x .

Wouldn't this turn off the upload ability for the entire portal?

You are correct. In version 10x there was a setting for 'Enable attachments when submitting tickets" and would work the same way. It is currently not possible to disable attachments only to incoming email tickets. I can add it as a feature request for future versions and we can change this thread type to a feature request so that others can vote on it.
Thank you,
Ashley

Ashley,

I would appreciate that. This is a feature that we would definitely appreciate. Our agency works with sensitive information that by law we cannot transmit over unsecure E-Mail and we would like to ability to reject E-Mails with attachments.

We would like to see that option available by Department if possible. Since some departments deal with sensitive data all the time (so we would want to prevent attachments for those departments), and others do not. (so we could keep attachments open for those).
