Can you upgrade from an installed free edition to Enterprise without reinstalling?

The "free" edition is actually the Enterprise edition, but limited to a single domain and 10 users. 
 
Upgrading to a licensed version is very easy, all you need to do is purchase the license and enter the key.
 
All settings and users are preserved.

That's what I had thought; doing a little more digging I found:
 
Permissions with the Network Services account on the SM folder/files.
 
Also found a typo in my firewall rule... which was probably the real culprit!
