In SmarterMail you can specify what outbound gateway to use by following the steps below:
Login as the system admin
Click on Settings | Routing  | Outgoing Gateways
Click New and fill in the appropriate information and save.

Now all your outbound email will be going though the 3rd party spam filter.

Can you setup a smarthost with smartermail to be used just by 1 domain within smartermail?

I believe outbound gateways are server wide.

How do I configure a smarthost per domain? Some clients want to use 3rd party outgoing filtering and others don't?

Hi Simon, have you had a reply to this question yet?

I have the same issue.

No, no response yet. Apparently I'm out of support tickets and I'm not going to pay to ask a question about how their software works. I thought this is what the forums are for, and am quite disappointed that no one from Smartertools has responded.

You can set smarthosts by message priority I believe, so perhaps set a smarthost for priority 8 and set the domains that you want to use that smarthost to send all their emails via priority 8. This is the only workaround I can see, but I haven't had time to test it yet.

Hey Simon! This forum is monitored, but please understand that this is not a means for direct support. This is a user-to-user forum that our staff participates in when not doing tickets, live chats and calls and other job duties here. If you don't get an immediate response in the future, please submit a ticket to our Sales Department by emailing sales@smartertools.com. With a ticket, sales or support, you are guaranteed a direct response.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I'll bring it to a more technical agent to review. Thank you!

Hi Simon,  For specifying what domain users what gateway you are correct that you will want to use priority.  Currently this is the only way to accomplish this.  Here is a link to our knowledge base that will show you how to set it up if you need assistance.  https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2967/outgoing-gateway-prioritization.aspx
