Admin UI - Needs separate tab for Domains
Problem reported by kevind - 7/19/2023 at 8:39 AM

When you sign in as an Admin, there are 3 tabs at the top.  The first tab, Manage, has these options under it:
  • Domains
  • Spool
  • IDS Blocks
  • Domain Defaults
  • Troubleshooting
  • Etc.
The problem is when you create a new Admin account and turn off access to Domains, the user can't get to Spool, IDS Blocks, Troubleshooting, etc.

The fix would be to create a 4th tab at the top and move Domains to that tab so when you restrict access to Domains, the admin user can still access Spool, IDS Blocks, Troubleshooting, etc. to manage the server.

Changing this from an Idea to a Problem as it doesn't work like it should.

If you restrict Domain Management, it shouldn't stop an Admin from managing the server, viewing logs, etc.

There is one more thing with Domains section. I didn't reported that since this is not a big problem but sometimes when you need to do something quickly or SmarterMail is experiencing high CPU usage getting to Manage -> Troubleshooting -> Services (I always start lowering CPU usage by stopping Indexing service from SmarterMail interface) could take some time. It is default section when you move to Manage tabs (even if you have been in Spool before going to Settings and returning to Manage it loads again Domains section). When you have a lot of Domains configured under SmarterMail it is taking some seconds to load (5.5k domains -> 3.7s but in high CPU usage scenario it is taking way longer).

@Webio, good point!  Another reason for moving Domains to its own tab. Be sure to vote this thread up.
