Community Search not very accurate / does not work
Problem reported by Steve Reid - 12/8/2014 at 11:48 AM

I was simply trying to find a thread about Message Sniffer, yet the thread containing that in the title it could not find.

Also the results it shows from most search terms are not even that relevant.

Searching in quotes to make it more accurate does not work either.

This search function is nothing like it was on the old forum.

I just did a community search for:

message sniffer

And it popped up threads related to message sniffer near the top.  What thread were you expecting to pop up in the list?

Which tab would be searching everything? I was on the recent tab and it was not showing until I posted in it. Now it shows along with many other threads that have nothing at all to do with message sniffer. So it's definitely not accurate and there's no tab to search all messages.

I searched in recent tickets as well, but I agree that there's something else going on. posts that have "message" and "sniffer" should get precedence over tickets that only contain one of the terms, but it looks like messages with only one term are showing up in the results higher. I'll put someone on looking at that query.

That's good to hear, however the problem also is if the thread is not considered recent, what tab do I search on?

The pager was missing from the recent view. It's back now, so see if it works any better. (Still planning on looking at the query)

This is still a major issue.

I just had a users password go blank on me, so I am searching "blank password" because I know it was discussed previously. However the results that are returned are not relevant at all.

It was there when I was testing the above...

If I put quotes around my search term I would expects that if both words are not found together then it should return no results. However what I am seeing is that quote do not work at all. There is no difference in the search results.
