Is there a way to enable a timeframe of activity or something else thats not expiring so quickly...

Really tired of having to do 2fa all every time I return to my pc for monitoring the email server.

It didnt do that in 9770 but does so in 9784.

22 times since 11 this morning....

How to adjust the logout timer? This is getting pretty annoying...

I would also be interested to hear if this is happening to anyone else. We've have random log outs for a while on various accounts, we've even lost customers because of it, so if the problem is going to get much worse with 9784 we'll have to hold off upgrading at this point till it's resolved...

It only does it when accessing the smartermail admin console via the public facing website.

Using localhost doesnt get you logged out.

it does it with the admin account on localhost, however the timeout seems to last a few days. im using chrome - in case it's a browser issue
Can it be a firewall (tcp session dropping after x minutes) issue?

Nope. :)

what ever it is might also apply to these community threads. I thought it was odd that no one had made an entry yesterday and today looked again, still no unread threads then noticed I had been logged out

Your symptoms sound like an IIS timeout.   What is your configured IIS session timeout value.   Default for new installs is 20 minutes, which is inaequate for our purposes.

im on Linux so not sure what's installed

A web search for "how to configure session timeout in Kestrel web server?" answered most of the questions.   A follow-up question "How to d
This link explains how to configure the ASP.Net Core implementation of Kestrel, which I assume is the one used by SmarterMail.  It appears that you modify the Program.cs file using a text editor.

Followed by the question "after changing Kestrel's Program.cs, what needs to be done to apply the changes?"
For which the answer appears to require rebuilding the application and restarting the service:
dotnet publish -c Release
sudo systemctl restart your-app-service-name.service

For a novice administrator of Kestrel, this seem risky, so I would get support involved.   I am surprised that they have not spoken up already.   Clearly, modifying Kestrel is more complicated than changing the same setting using the GUI for IIS.   Apparently the released kit was built with a different parameter than your previous build.

For others who are worried, I would conclude that the problem is unique to Linux implementations.

I'm now wondering if this is a chrome issue or incompatibility issue with chrome. I just remoted into the server and again, logon prompt has appeared. I then opened firefox and went straight into the console, no sign ins needed

Just logged into the server and firefox has logged itself out too so it has to be a SM issue

Hello,

When you are getting logged out, can you please review the Network tab in the browser's "DevTools" so that we can see which call is failing? This is generally an issue with the "refresh-token" and the time being off on the end user’s or server’s time.

To test your time, please go to https://time.is/ from the server to see if the time is correct, and from the browser to see if the time is off there.

 Thanks

Same server. No change at all. Using localhost instaed of public URL doesnt lock the admin out.

I use localhost all the time and mine times out

Have you opened a ticket with support?
Have you reviewed your program.cs file to see the current timeout setting and report thecresult?
Have you checked your time sync as requested?
Have you collected and submitted the requested Dev tools data?

just catching up, sorry if this has been answered, this timeout issue is only for Admins? and not for users?

I upgraded my test system  (Windows Server) and then left the admin account logged in for a few hours without being disconnected.    So if there is a problem, it is probably specific to Kestrel.
