Message Archive Search - don't automatically display external images
Idea shared by Nick Jansen - Today at 12:24 PM
Under Consideration
I think it would be useful to have the option to hide by default externally-hosted images in emails that are viewed from the results of a Message Archive search, similar to how Webmail and various modern email clients handle external images. Right now it seems like external images are always automatically retrieved and displayed when previewing a message from the archive.

This would prevent inadvertently triggering message tracking events for the sender when viewing archived messages.

Or if I'm mistaken and this is already supported, please help me find the option.

Hey, Nick

This kind of goes back to this post on allowing clickable links in text-only emails. The viewer for Message Archive Search is just that: a viewer. It's not designed as a webmail like like what you get in the Email section of SmarterMail.

That said, I'll add it for the devs to review -- there may be something they can do for that. As an aside, would a "text only" view be something worthwhile?

Thanks Derek. I think the text-only view might be good to have (if you mean the "View Text" option in the three dots menu at the top of a message in the archive), but I think that's a different use case than viewing an HTML message in its original format except with placeholders for the external images.
